Our friends at Victoria’s Secret just informed us of some exciting news! They have just released a new, limited edition fragrance for spring called Isle of PINK.
It’s like a vacation in a bottle with essence of Iced Tulip and Raspberry Sorbet. Enjoy!!
In case you haven’t noticed, I am one of the fairest people around. I’m not talking beautiful, ladies, I mean pale! So pale, in fact, that I was nicknamed Casper, the ghost by my high school volleyball team—not exactly the sexy moniker I was hoping for growing up.
There is no way I can get a tan even if I try; I break out in hives and get violently ill in the absence of a parasol and 50 SPF lotion. Now I have tried a ton of self-tanners on the market, hoping for that beautiful J.Lo glow. But those experiences have been utterly unsuccessful; my nickname has gone from Casper the friendly ghost to Tony the tiger.
I have found quite a few beautiful self-tanners, but what about that smell? Most contain a chemical called dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is the ingredient that messes with your Ph balance and gives off that unpleasant odor. But there are a few products on the market that don’t smell bad at all. I usually use Jergens Natural Glow. It takes a few days to build up your tan, but it’s very natural looking and perfect if you’re fair and not skilled in the art of self-tanning. If I need instant gratification, I use Sun Labs Sunless Tanner because it has a bronzer that leaves me tan and glowing instantaneously. It has absolutely NO SMELL, at least on me it doesn’t, so it’s worth a try!

Spring is finally here. What a great time of year for makeup. Spring and fall are the two most pivotal and exciting seasons for new cosmetic trends and products.

1. Concern: You’re eyes are suffering from puffiness and dark circles
Myth: Preparation H reduces puffiness and dark circles underneath the eyes
Well, in the United States, it was a possibility before they reformulated the cream in 1994. One of the product’s ingredients, a yeast derivative that is said to reduce puffiness, is no longer found in the version that’s available in the States but is still available in Canada. Nevertheless, using a cream intended for your irritated bum area can cause dry and inflamed skin, even worse an allergic reaction. There are plenty of wonderful over the counter creams that are intended for the Louis Vuitton luggage you’re carrying under your eyes!

LiftFusion Micro-Injected M-Tox Transdermal Eye Lift
2. Concern: You’re not sure if shaving is best for hair removal
Myth: Shaving will make your hair grow in thicker and darker
Your hair follicles don’t have tiny little receptors telling them that they should grow in thicker when you shave. When the hair is shaved, the edge is cut bluntly and that increase of edge is what you see. To get the best shave, use a new, sharp razor—and take your time. Shave down the leg, in the direction the hair grows.

Gillette Venus Vibrance, Razor for Women with Soothing Vibrations
Method Body Shave Cream, Eternal Optimist
3. Concern: You have enlarged or congested pores
Myth: You can make your pores smaller
Your pores do not have little flaps or doors that open and close. The size of your pores is genetically determined so once you reach puberty, the pores become their adult size. However, they can appear to be overly enlarged if they become impacted with oil, dirt or bacteria so it’s important to have a good cleansing regime and good exfoliant to help aid in making them appear smaller.
Suggested Product(s):
SkinCeuticals Foaming Cleanser
Peter Thomas Roth Un_Wrinkle Peel Pads
4. Concern: You can’t get your lashes as curled as you desire
Myth: Curling lashes after mascara will cause lashes to break
Curling your lashes after your mascara application is supposedly ‘bad’. I’ve come to the conclusion that it works best to curl before and after. I curl my lashes before mascara, holding the curler tight for a few seconds at the base of my lashes and another curl, closer to the tips. Then, after applying mascara, I wait a few seconds for them to get a bit more dry and do a quick curl, just at the base. The dampness of the mascara can take a lot of the curl out of the lashes so this is a great tip to ensure your lashes get a full curl! Shu Uemura is my favorite curler and hands down the most popular among Makeup Artists!

5. Concern: You want to avoid getting stretch marks
Myth: Applying cocoa butter will prevent Stretch Marks from appearing
Many women believe that using lotions and creams help prevent stretch marks, Sadly, this isn’t true. Stretch marks are formed below the top layer of skin, where the cocoa butter and olive oil can’t reach. The number of stretch marks you get depends on how elastic your skin is and one thing is fairly certain: genetics do appear to play a role in whether or not you are predisposed to getting them. This means that if your mother got stretch marks during pregnancy, you may be more likely to get them yourself. If you do have stretch marks there are a few things you can do to minimize their appearance. These are a few products that I’ve used on myself personally and found that they helped out a lot.

Spring is upon us and it’s time to show off your more delicate side! Now I know runway trends
can often be all over the place and difficult to translate into real life but one thing is for certain this season is all about beautiful pastels all over the eyes. With this season’s focus on floral prints and gradation of color, 1960’s inspired colors in soft pastels like lilac, green and blue are beautifully complimentary to any look.
If soft pastels seem a little boring to you then try taking the look up a notch by pairing the eyeshadow with a sexy cat eye. You can use black cream liner and a small angled brush to perfect this look straight off the runway.
Matte foundation is also another Spring trend. L’Oreal True Match foundation is a great base for achieving this look. It provides the coverage you need yet it’s not cakey
looking and dries to a beautiful powdery finish leaving your skin looking
perfect. It’s also a great deal for the budget conscious!
If the whole idea of pastels isn’t rocking your world then try a sexy crimson matte lip. I’ve seen this trend for a while now which suggest that it will also translate into the Fall season again so ladies, hold on to your lipstick!
Why weren’t Nicole Paxson’s cosmetics around when I was in high school? God knows I’ve had my fair share of coverage issues!
Nicole has been struggling her whole life with the chronic illness lupus. If you have Lupus, your immune system attacks healthy cells and tissues by mistake. This can damage your joints, skin, blood vessels and organs. One side effect of this disease causes a red “butterfly rash” all over the face and body. It’s as though the rash is immune to makeup which is one of the reasons Nicole is fighting back to literally change the face of the disease altogether.
I personally love the coverage of this product but is even better for anyone that has issues with Rosea discoloration, acne scarring, dark circles, or unwanted spider veins. Being a redhead, I find this near and dear to my heart. I am so fair and freckle so easily that I never leave the house without great SPF protection on my face and quite personally I don’t feel like connecting the dots on my body after a ride in my convertible so I love the fact that everything is made with the highest levels of SPF UVA/UVB sun protection available in a foundation line and while amazing in coverage it doesn’t look like you have pounds of makeup on your face!
Are you in the mood to take your makeup up a notch? This liner is amazing for a night on the town or if you just want to try something fun! Victorias Secret is launching this new product from their Beauty Rush line. Now let me tell you something, when I am on a shoot I always need to get creative to create bold new looks. I am a huge fan of metallics, sparkle and yes I said it, glitter. A lot of times I take on the persona of a chemist blending shadows, pigments and glitter to add a little twinkle to my makeup so this is why I am so excited about this liner!
You can use it just as a liner or a trick that I discovered while playing around with it is to apply it to your lash line and allow 20 seconds to get a bit tacky, then tap it around your lid for a smoldering twinkle effect. This is also something that can be done over your regular eye makeup especially in a pinch if you are going out directly from work.
Liquid Metal, Teal Zeal, Platinumania, Plumburst, Gold Crush and Copperhot.
