Spooky season has well and truly arrived, so it’s time to brew up your best looks! Looking to combine glamour and gore in equal measure this year? Then it’s time to get stuck into our SFX range – not sure where to start? special effects can be complex but Team Rev have you covered with a guide to the must-have products and some simple tips and tricks to have you looking blood-y beautiful in no time.
MUST-HAVE SFX
Revolution have an array of affordable SFX formulas to get you started on your way. Here are a few I recommend and what they can be used for.

SFX FACE PAINT PALETTE
Cream formulas are perfect for creative looks – blendable and buildable, they have a high-pigment payoff while also being long-wearing too. Mix to customise your colour, and apply with either a brush or a sponge for seamless application. This Revolution Creator SFX Face Paint Palette is one of our best-sellers, with 12 creams that can be used alone or blended to create spooktacular looks!
Rev's tip: A little goes a long way so use colours sparingly. Set your paints with translucent powder for a look that lasts all night.
SFX SCAR PUTTY
Wanting to take your look to the next level? Scar putty is for you! Adding dimension to your looks, you can build up this modelling putty on the skin to create scars, cuts and all manner of wounds.
The putty needs to be applied on clean skin and moulded using your fingers into the desired shape you want.
Rev's tip: Use petroleum jelly on your fingers to make moulding easier, apply liquid latex between the skin and the putty for a look that lasts all night. Powder down the putty once on your skin to set it in place.
SFX LIQUID LATEX
This sticky, gooey white liquid is versatile must-have for anyone looking to create creepy designs. It can be used as an adhesive to seal wax, to create ageing or peeling skin, or even combined with materials like cotton or toilet roll to create 3D effects and homemade prosthetics.
Rev's tip: Apply sparingly with an old brush – this stuff is STICKY!
