An Easy Guide To A Seamless Fake Tan

Here’s how to get that sun kissed glow at home.. the easy way!

Step 1: Preparation is key!

Before applying any self-tanning products, you must prep the skin to achieve the best, streak free result.

Start by exfoliating your skin using our Makeup Revolution Glow Exfoliating Mitt and Revolution Skincare Vitamin C Glow Body Scrub to remove dead skin cells and create a smooth canvas!

Next, be sure to moisturise, this will hydrate your skin for an even application. We recommend using the Revolution Skincare Vitamin C Glow Moisturiser!

Step 2: Choose your tan!

There are many self tanning products you can use to achieve a radiant glow, so use whichever one is best for you and your skin.

A mousse such as our Revolution Beauty Whipped Tanning Mousse is a popular choice. It’s easy to apply with our Makeup Revolution Glow Tanning Mitt and glides on smoothly reducing the risk of streaks and patches. It usually develops to a gorgeous tan within 4-6 hours.

However, for beginners (or anyone who wants a gradual glow!) Our Revolution Buildable Tanning Butter is perfect, just apply as you would an ordinary body lotion. Although we do recommend also using a Mitt for this for a seamless application.

Step 3: Apply!

It’s time to apply your tan! Pop some of your self tan onto the mitt and start applying from your feet and work your way up using circular motions to blend the product seamlessly. Pay extra attention to tough spots like elbows, knees, ankles, wrists where product buildup is common!

For hard-to-reach areas like your back, use our Revolution Beauty Black Tanning Mitt

Step 4: To build or not to build!

Now the first layer of your tan is on, you can repeat Step 3 as needed to achieve your desired shade. It’s important to consider your natural skin tone to avoid an unnatural look. Also remember, for a mousse, the shade will deepen as the tan develops and lift slightly once you wash off the guide layer.

Step 5: Don’t forget your face!

Use our Makeup Revolution Glow Illuminating Hyaluronic Face Tan Drops mixed with our Revolution Vitamin C Glow Moisturiser and apply to your face using our Makeup Revolution Glow Tanning Brush to buff it out.

Step 6: Allow to dry!

If you have applied a gradual tan such as the Revolution Buildable Tanning Butter, allow this to sink into your skin before applying clothes, then continue as normal!

However if you are using a foaming mousse tan such as our Revolution Glow Self Tanning Mousse. You need to allow 4-6 hours to develop. We recommend applying this before bed so it can develop overnight and avoid any accidental water streaks (or getting tan on your furniture). You can protect your bed sheets with our Revolution Self Tanning Sheet Protector.

Step 7: Ready to GLOW!

If your tan has developed overnight, now is time to shower it off! You will be left with a radiant, sun kissed glow. Be sure to maintain it by moisturising regularly! Once your tan has faded and you’re ready to re apply. Remove this tan with our Makeup Revolution Glow Fake Tan Eraser Foam and repeat this process!

By following this easy step-by-step guide, you can achieve a bronzed glow that enhances your natural beauty without compromising your skin's health. So now you’re ready to rock that radiant tan this summer!
