Skin Silk - Behind The Scenes

An inside look at Skin Silk, Revolution's Biggest Foundation Launch of 2024

Soft as silk, light as air! Skin Silk is here and Team Rev couldn't be more excited to show you our new favourite foundation! I'm taking you behind the scenes of this landmark launch as we hear from the core team who put their all into the complexion formula, and the model's first thoughts on how the product felt and performed on the skin on shoot day!

What Makes Skin Silk Serum Foundation Stand Out?

Revolution's first-ever serum foundation is something to shout about! I spoke to our Product and Brand Director Jenny Fraser on the decision to make the formula: "Over the last few years, one of the biggest global beauty trends has been the skinification of makeup."



"Consumers expect more from their makeup and healthy skin foundations are trending." But where does this fit in with the Revolution brand? She went on to say, "We saw a gap in our portfolio for a weightless, radiant skin-loving serum foundation. What makes Skin Silk super special is it's infused with peptides and hyaluronic acid, so it's skin-loving as well as feeling weightless!"

And it's not just the Product team shouting about Skin Silk. Rebecca Howard, Senior Brand Marketing Manager spoke to me about her excitement around the serum foundation.



"We were lucky enough to start testing out the Skin Silk Serum Foundation formula at the start of 2023 and it has become a staple in all of our makeup bags! I can't wait for everyone to get their hands on this launch as it's a great example of how Revolution are really stepping up with formulas. We're all about blurring the boundaries between skincare and makeup, and for us, 2024 is all about sharing this with the world!"

Skin Silk Serum Foundation Shoot: Behind the Scenes

A huge launch quite rightly needs a big campaign shoot to go with it, and the Revolution team carefully curated a lineup of models they believed represented the brand and could showcase the foundation's broad shade range.

Over two days, the team captured the essence of the product on real skin, with compelling before and afters and fun video content, also ensuring we headed behind the scenes to chat to the makeup artists and models to get their first impressions on Skin Silk.

The models were unanimous in their authentic love of the product, so much so that we made the decision to quote them as part of our brand campaign! 'Light', 'hydrating' and 'glowy' were just a few of the first impressions, with "it's really refreshing to see natural beauty" said about our zero skin retouch policy, pioneered by the brand to ensure we never airbrush or edit the skin.

Rebecca Howard, Senior Brand Marketing Manager said: "As part of our Skin Silk campaign, we wanted to show that 'your skin but better' effect the product provides. Our zero skin retouch policy helps us to show our customers the authentic results of a product and it's something we're really passionate about promoting."

As Brand Content Manager, my job was to interact with the models, oversee the shot list and content capture, ensuring we were encapsulating an authentic look and feel both in front of and behind the lens.



Two days of shooting last year led us through months of careful campaign planning, collaborative working and community connection – and it's all led up to this moment where we're showing our new fave foundation to the world – we hope you love it!
